Eden is not a first name you hear all season. She comes in, she holds the house, she leaves with Argyle, and the story moves on. The table is there so she is not confused with Suzie, or with a resident of the town in Indiana.

The Bingham house
The Bingham family lives in Salt Lake City. Suzie is the one Dustin calls, the one who calculates, the one who already saved an equation at the end of a line. Eden is the other girl in the house: the one seen watching the younger children while their father works in his office.
The house is full, loud, and tightly run. Eden does not dress like the rest. Her clothes are dark, set apart from the tidy room around her. The story gives her no speech about the family's religion. It shows the contrast: she is there, she watches everyone, and she does not seem to believe it in the same way.
She is not given an age, or an exact rank among the siblings. Calling her the eldest would add a word the scene does not set down. What you see is the load: the little ones are hers for as long as the father does not leave his office.
This house is not a passing set for a joke. It is the only place where Suzie exists outside a speaker. Eden is the piece that had not been seen yet: the sister who stays when the other is on the phone with a boy from another town.
The Dive, far from the lake
The episode is called The Dive. Part of the story is at the lake, in Indiana. The other part is on the road, then in Salt Lake City. Eden has nothing to do with the water. She belongs to the detour toward Suzie's house.
The group that arrives left California to find Suzie. Mike, Will, Jonathan, Eleven and Argyle are on that trip. The van is the one from the pizzeria where Argyle works. Eden is not waiting for this visit. She opens onto a house already occupied by the children.
The episode title can mislead. You look for a dive and you also find a front door. The two threads hold together because one needs the other: without Suzie, a coordinate is missing. Eden is what you cross to reach the sister who has the answer.
She does not join the lake, the high school, or the game club. Her scene stays in Utah. Mixing her with the dive into the lake would give her a boat she never had.
Argyle and the van
Argyle sees her, and it does not stay a hello on the doorstep. They like each other. They end up in the van, smoking, while the house goes on without them. The vehicle is the same one as on the road: the Surfer Boy van Pizza, painted for a delivery, stopped in front of a family that ordered nothing.
The scene is short and it is clear. Argyle is not there for her at the start. He is there because Dustin needs Suzie. Eden becomes Argyle's detour, not the point of the trip. When Suzie and the others find them, the detour is over.
No sequel is written for them. No letter, no second town, no season in which Eden would call back. The van will leave with the group. She stays in the house she was already holding before they honked.
Argyle already has his own thread: the pizza, California, the trip. Eden takes only a piece of it, for the length of a pause. That is why she sticks. One scene is enough when the character beside her crosses the whole country.

Suzie, on the other side of the door
Suzie is the sister we already know: the voice, the constant, Dustin's girlfriend. Eden does not replace her. She only explains that Suzie is not alone in that house, and that someone else takes the noise while she talks into a microphone.
The find in the van puts the two sisters face to face. Suzie sees Eden with a boy the group brought. The story does not turn it into a fight filmed step by step. It shows that the house has its rules, and that Eden has just bent them for the length of a cigarette.
Dustin came for Suzie. Eden is not his story. Crossing her is seeing the real set of a voice that had only been heard on the phone: siblings, a father in an office, a sister who does not wear the same clothes as the others.
Keeping the two first names apart avoids the mix-up. Suzie calculates. Eden watches. One already has two seasons of lines at the end of the line. The other has only this afternoon.
What the story does not specify
No family name other than Bingham, already Suzie's. No job for Eden, no named school, no town before this one. Salt Lake City is the family's. The rest would be a file filled in to look complete.
Audrey Holcomb plays this appearance. The story does not give her Eden back later. Looking for the character in the final season, or in another state, means leaving the episode that introduced her.
She is not Suzie, and she is not a resident of the town where the lake is. She is the sister seen once, in a full house, with a van stopped outside. Three facts, and we stop.
The scene also does not say what becomes of her after the group leaves. No promise, no number, no goodbye line that could be quoted. They leave to find the rest of their route. She takes back a house that never stopped having children in it.
Not Suzie's pageSuzie already has her article: the radio, Dustin, the constant. Here we only take the sister who appears in The Dive.

To rememberEden Bingham is Suzie's sister, seen once in Salt Lake City. She holds the house while their father is in his office. She and Argyle linger in the van. Suzie finds them. The story gives her neither a sequel nor an exact rank among the siblings.
