If a theory about the show exists, it was born on Reddit. The main subreddit has millions of members, predicted Vecna before season 4 and Will's role before season 5, and also saw every leak go by. Here is what you find there, how to use it without spoiling the ending, and where to go in English.

What you find there
The main subreddit has been the fans' logbook since 2016: each episode has its live discussion thread, each trailer is taken apart frame by frame, and every detail, a clock, a poster in a bedroom, a song, gives rise to theories argued over pages. You also find the memes, the cosplays, the tattoos, and the behind-the-scenes shared by the actors, who have sometimes answered there themselves.
The tone is passionate and documented: the best theories cite episode numbers and timestamps, and are often more rigorous than the press.

The community guessed Vecna before Season 4, by crossing the “001” tattoo and the trailer clues, and Will's role before Season 5, by rereading his 1984 possession. It also produced false theories by the thousands; that is the game.
The leaks
Reddit is also the place where leaks arrive: set photos, supposed scripts, episode recaps before release. Before season 5, scenes filmed in closed streets circulated, and "recaps" of the finale, most of them fake, were shared for months. The main subreddit bans leaks and bans people for them; parallel subreddits host them. To keep a season from being spoiled, you only have to stay on the main one and read the tags.

There is no large local-language subreddit: fans read the main one, in English, or gather on chat servers, show forums, and the comments of specialist sites. Theories show up there first, often a day before they appear elsewhere. To follow live, English is still what you need.
How to use it
Read the discussion threads after each episode, for the details you missed; look at the theories between volumes, for the fun of it; avoid leak subreddits before a release; and keep in mind that the community is often wrong, with a lot of conviction. It is the best way to extend the show, as long as you know when to close the tab.

The last season's leaks, and what they changed
Season 5 was the most watched-over of the show. Set photos, in 2024, circulated on the subreddit before being taken down; the episode titles, revealed on November 6, 2024, were picked apart for a year; and the truncated title of the second chapter, “The Vanishing of...,” fed weeks of speculation, the right answer, Holly, being the most shared. Matthew Modine's return in 2021 had already been leaked by a paparazzi photo.
The Duffers answered with the same method as for Season 4: cascading reveals, so the leaks arrive afterward. When the finale came out, the subreddit was locked to spoilers for several days, as with each volume.
How to read Reddit without spoiling the show
The main subreddit flags spoilers by season, and an episode's discussion threads are not allowed to reveal what happens in later ones. For a new viewer, the rule is simple: read only the threads of the season you are on, and stay away from the words “theory” and “ending.” For a fan who has seen everything, the frame-by-frame analysis threads, posted in the hours after each episode, are the best reading of the show.
The subreddit also has its rituals: on November 6, a celebration thread; at each release, a live-reaction thread; and since December 31, 2025, a long farewell thread where members tell when they started the show. Many were twelve in 2016.
